Classic 1
The Sansin Classic system provides exceptional protection for log homes, timber-framed homes and exterior wood applications where beautiful colour, low maintenance and a natural, low-lustre finish is desired. Classic is engineered to penetrate wood of variable moisture content, providing effective UV and weather protection while allowing wood to breathe. Because Classic is designed to wear gently over time, wood care involves a simple periodic cleaning and maintenance coat.
For natural wood tones: Sansin Classic 1 is the first coat in the Sansin Classic system when natural wood tones are desired. For clear, light wood tones, use Sansin Foundation as the first coat in the Sansin Classic system.
Classic 2
Sansin Classic system provides exceptional protection for log homes, timber-framed homes and exterior wood applications where beautiful colour, low maintenance and a natural, low-lustre finish is desired. Classic is engineered to penetrate wood of variable moisture content, providing effective UV and weather protection while allowing wood to breathe. Because Classic is designed to wear gently over time, wood care involves a simple periodic cleaning and maintenance coat.
For natural wood tones: Sansin Classic 2 is the second coat in the Sansin Classic system. Tone to the Naturals colour for lighter colours and increased clarity. Sansin Classic 2 Natural colour formula may be reduced by up to half when Sansin Foundation Classic is used as the first coat.
For all other wood tones: Classic 1 is not required when a Translucent, Saturated or Ultra-Saturated colour is selected. Use Classic 2 as the first coat and Classic 3 as the second/final coat. For cleaner white and grey tones, use Sansin Foundation Classic Light Wood as an additional first coat.
Classic 3
Sansin Classic system provides exceptional protection for log homes, timber-framed homes and exterior wood applications where beautiful colour, low maintenance and a natural, low-lustre finish is desired. Classic is engineered to penetrate wood of variable moisture content, providing effective UV and weather protection while allowing wood to breathe. Because Classic is designed to wear gently over time, wood care involves a simple periodic cleaning and maintenance coat. Sansin Classic 3 is the final coat in the Sansin Classic system.
Maintenance – Natural Wood Tones: Use Classic 3 coloured to the desired formula or Classic 3 Naturals Topcoat for long-term protection and beauty.
Maintenance – All Other Wood Tones: Use Classic 3 tinted to your choice of colour for long-term protection and beauty. Consider pigment dosage to maintain durability and aesthetics. Recommended dosage of no less than 1/4 formula per gallon.
Classic Naturals Topcoat
Sansin Classic Naturals Topcoat is a water-repellent topcoat formula designed as the final step of the Classic application system. May also be applied as a maintenance coat to existing Classic coatings to help ensure water repellence on surfaces subject to more severe wetting.
Classic Topcoat delivers excellent water beading, is resistant to wear, and enhances the natural UV protection and beauty of your Sansin Classic finish.
Dec
Between the BBQ, the patio furniture and family get-togethers, decks have to handle more traffic than any other wood around your house. That’s why Sansin Dec is designed as a matte, rugged two-coat formula that penetrates deeply, protecting your wood from within. Or, you can use Dec as the first coat, followed by Dec Topcoat for a fuller finish.
Where many deck coatings easily peel and scratch, exposing wood to the elements, Dec enhances wood tissue with lasting protection from rain and UV exposure and is ideal for ground level or low-lying decks. It can be applied to wet wood with a moisture content of up to 21%.
Perfect for cedar, exotic hardwoods, Southern pine, pressure-treated lumber or whatever your deck is made of, Sansin Dec deep penetrating solids will protect its beauty and character, even in the most demanding freeze-thaw climates. Like all Sansin Enviro Stains, it is environmentally friendly. By allowing wood to breathe naturally, it helps maintain a healthy moisture equilibrium that inhibits decay.
Dec is formulated with higher solids and stronger pigmentation to look better and last longer. But since even the toughest decks need to be maintained, Sansin Dec makes it easy to keep your deck looking beautiful with just a simple cleaning and maintenance coat. Available in a huge selection of stunning colours.
Dec Naturals Topcoat
This water-borne, breathable topcoat finish is highly protective and exceptionally durable. Dec Topcoat is applied in one or two coats only after a base coat of Sansin Dec, giving enhanced water repellency, increasing the service life, and adding a fuller finish that elevates the matte look of Dec to a medium-lustre shine. It is geared towards decks in aggressive freeze-thaw climates.
Dec Topcoat is tintable with the base colour to boost UV protection. It is also permeable, which protects the wood from within while allowing the wood to breathe and release moisture. Dec Topcoat is UV stable, water-repellent, low in VOCs and non-flammable with easy soap and water cleanup.
ENS
Sansin ENS Optimum Clear is a durable crystal-clear topcoat that can be applied to any surface protected by ENS, from millwork to siding, fencing and decks. ENS Optimum Clear is engineered as both a performance-enhancing topcoat for ENS and as a long-lasting maintenance coat.
ENS Optimum Clear is highly resistant to wear, doesn’t discolour over time, and enhances the natural UV protection of Sansin ENS. Add ENS base coat colours to ENS Optimum Clear for use as a maintenance coat or use to dilute colours. Always consider base coat colour concentration to ensure adequate pigmentation to protect the substrate. Consult a dealer or a Sansin customer service professional for details.
SDF
Sansin SDF provides tough, effective protection for wood siding. SDF’s specially formulated oils and resins penetrate into the wood, providing outstanding water resistance and UV protection in a wide range of natural, semi-transparent and even solid colours. Thanks to SDF’s unique water-borne technology, it provides complete protection in 2 to 3 coats, depending on your choice of maintenance cycle and finish. For added durability, SDF Topcoat is used for the second and optional third coat for an even richer, satin finish.
When the timeline is tight, SDF can be applied as a 1 coat matte finish. In this case, it is recommended to pigment the product adequately. Consider doubling the tint load of the first coat of SDF for adequate tone and protection.
Because SDF is designed to be highly water-resistant for wet climates, it’s a natural choice for homes and structures in moisture-rich environments. Not only does SDF protect the outside of your wood, it also protects the inside by allowing the wood to breathe, which helps prevent moisture from getting trapped in the wood and causing rot.
SDF is rated by siding manufacturers as one of the best natural finishes available.
SDF Naturals Topcoat
Sansin SDF Topcoat is a highly protective, exceptionally durable topcoat system that can be applied to any SDF base coat system in one or two coats, including SDF Foundation for a fuller, low-lustre finish. It is suitable for substrates including siding, soffits, decks, logs and timbers. SDF Topcoat is highly durable against moisture and weathering and is available in four tintable bases. It is well suited in wet/humid and high heat/UV climates.
It is UV stable, water-repellent, low in VOCs, and non-flammable with easy soap and water cleanup. SDF Topcoat will not crack, peel, or blister. Maintenance applications can be planned every four to six years on vertical surfaces depending on the number of coats applied.
WoodForce
WoodForce is an ultra-low-VOC, durable wood treatment that allows exterior wood to weather naturally while offering exceptional water repellency and protection from blackening, discoloration and wood rot.
It is easily mixed to create standard and custom barnboard colours or vintage effects, while letting the exposed surface weather naturally and more evenly.
Sansin WoodForce repels water while allowing wood to breathe. Over a short period of time, the wood will weather uniformly, yet retain water repellency and protect against weathering and wood rot.
